Madrid - Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon issued a surprising statement. According to him, Jose Mourinho ready to replace Zinedine Zidane in the next summer when Zidane failed to lift the performance 'Los Blancos'.
Madrid has just sacked manager Rafa Benitez after only working for seven months and replace it with Zidane on Monday (4/1).
According to Calderon, the party itself is not in a safe position in Madrid for a long period of time. He must be able to prove that he can succeed in a short time. If not successful, Mourinho ready to replace Zidane.
Calderon even say that Mourinho is the first choice Perez in mid-season, but the Portuguese coach declined the offer submitted Perez.
"I wish the best for Zidane, but it will be difficult. If he fails then Jose Mourinho will be on the bench in June, I believe."
"This is a great opportunity for Zidane, but he lacks experience as a coach. That's the problem," Calderon said as quoted by the BBC.
However, Calderon believes Zidane has ever won many titles in Madrid during his career from 2001-2006, is able to captivate the fans.
"I'm sure the fans will receive it with a very good way," said Calderon.
Not only expressing opinions about Zidane, Calderon also criticized Real Madrid president Florentino Perez decision to replace Carlo Ancelotti linked with Benitez.
"Florentino Perez is an engineer, he was not a professional," said Calderon added.
"He decided to fire Carlo Ancelotti when everyone loved him, then Madrid decided to replace Rafa Benitez, but none who advise who the right person to fill the position."
"Perez did not say anything about the changes. Why?" said Calderon asked.
Mourinho himself had previously believed not to leave the UK after being fired Chelsea because of Mourinho already comfortable family living in the UK. (ptr / ptr)
