Luke Wilson and Eddie Izzard lend their voices to this generic Chinese-American computer-animated production.
Something was evidently lost in the translation where the blandly rendered rock dog refers. An adaptation of the graphic novel, Tibetan Rock Dog by Zheng Jun, this ripped, computerized animation exhibits neither bark nor bite in his portrait of a Himalayan guarding sheep sheepskin, which plays the guitar that has his head perpetually in the clouds.

After the Chinese release of the film last summer, which disappointed its 14 executive producers by contributing less than 10 percent of its $ 60 million budget, the Americanized version, with a cast of voices like Luke Wilson, Eddie Izzard, JK Simmons and Sam Elliott, will be pressured to do so much better, with a marketing campaign for the younger puppies.

Although his father, Khampa (Simmons), was prepared to keep the wolves away from the inhabitants of Snow Mountain, young Bodi (Wilson) has always been distracted by the sound of music.

So when a transistor radio literally falls from the skies (falling from a passing plane), Bodi takes it as a signal to pursue his dream, leading him to the decidedly Zootopian urban expansion which is the home of the recluse Angus Scattergood (Izzard) , The Wayfarer-wore the feline of a Mick Jagger-esque rock legend chased by a mischievous creative block.

Buried beneath all the increasingly tired visual gags and worn-out character conventions is a practical message about tracking his muse, but director Ash Brannon, a Pixar veteran, along with at least eight other writers, seem content to Establish the same old lame.

Given that Xheng's graphic novel was inspired by his own career as a rock star (among his successes there was a Chinese-language cover of "Yellow" by Coldplay), one would have hoped that Bodi's trip would not feel like one Generic retread, Number of anthropomorphic efforts of Kung Fu Panda to the own animated mockumentary of Brannon, Surf's Up.

Although Izzard and Wilson have a good relationship, the efforts of other voice actors - including Elliott as Fleetwood Yak, the city elder and the part-time narrator, and Lewis Black as a gangster wolf in Wilson's tail Lose in the mix of choreographed Subplots.

As for music, the likeness of the list of songs of Rock Dog with real rock is almost the same as that of Vanilla Ice to rap music. Despite his rocky aspirations, Bodi, like his underperforming vehicle, was born to be gentle.
