Together with the Indonesian Road Development Association (HPJI), Shell held an Exhibition of Asphalt Modified Polymer Technology which was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Public Works and People's Housing, the Ministry of Transportation, Shell Distributors and Road Contractors. The event aims to introduce more about these technologies and expose the competitive benefits of this product technology in support of infrastructure development in Indonesia.

On the same occasion, Shell also introduced a series of asphalt products with polymer modification technology (PMB), Shell Cariphalte, in Indonesia. Compared to ordinary asphalt, Shell Cariphalte PMB is claimed to be more elastic and stronger in deformation. The result is a more durable asphalt that is expected to match the level of traffic density and the tropical climate of Indonesia.
"In order to create sustainable industrial and economic growth, greater infrastructure development is needed. In the road and airport sectors, we seek to adopt a variety of more advanced solutions, such as bitumen with polymer modification, which can provide better performance and longer durability, "said Ir. Hediyanto W Husaini, Chairman of the Indonesian Road Development Association (HPJI).

Examples of the use of this modified asphalt is on highway projects, highways, airports and racing circuits like in Abu Dhabi. The latest project will be available for the taxiway at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport will use Shell Cariphalte PG76 Fuelsafe product. This product meets strict project requirements. Shell technical advisors work with all stakeholders to ensure a suitable asphalting solution.
