Yep, it’s Mother’s Day – meaning if you’ve forgotten to send a card, you’re a) late and b) in big trouble. There’s plenty of amazing working mums in showbiz land, and among them, lots of ladies who are celebrating Mother’s Day for the first time – and we salute them.
OK, so they don’t celebrate Mother’s Day in the US until May, but this is the first Mothering Sunday Kylie has been part of the crew for.
The 20-year-old didn’t even confirm she was pregnant until after she had given birth, later giving us a look at her pregnancy via an adorable video addressed to her daughter.
Kylie said: ‘Pregnant has been the most beautiful, empowering, and life changing experience I’ve had in my entire life and I’m actually going to miss it. ‘My beautiful and healthy baby girl arrived February 1st and I just couldn’t wait to share this blessing.
I’ve never felt love and happiness like this, I could burst!’ Kylie and Travis Scott became parents on 1 February, and named their little bundle of joy Stormi. So far, we’ve seen glimpses of Stormi on her mum’s social media, and she may have the cutest, squishiest cheeks we’ve ever seen.
Mindy delighted us all when she gave birth to her first child on 15 December, 2017.
The actress welcomed a little girl named Katherine, and she has not revealed the identity of the baby daddy – Mindy wasn’t publicly dating anyone at the time of the pregnancy. Speaking about motherhood, Mindy admits she wasn’t exactly maternal pre-Katherine.
She told Stephen Colbert: ‘It’s really profound and strange. I was not a kid person at all. I was the person, if you had a baby at a party, I would go up to them and shake [the baby’s] hand and be like, “Hello”. So I didn’t know [or] understand how to be around babies. I was on planes [and] when babies would cry, I would be mad at the families.
‘Now I’m like, “Oh, let them cry”. Let them do whatever they want. They can sit on me and poop if they want. Whatever they want.’
Ferne’s road to motherhood was rockier than most.
She announced that she was pregnant two days after her boyfriend Arthur Collins was arrested and charged in connection with an acid attack at Mangle E8 nightclub in London.
The 27-year-old said she planned to raise her baby as a single mother, and gave birth to a baby girl named Sunday on 2 November, 2017.
Later that month, Collins was found guilty of five counts of grievous bodily harm and nine counts of actual bodily harm, and was later sentenced to twenty years in jail. Speaking about motherhood, Ferne told the Press Association: ‘Every minute that you spend with your baby, the love just grows and blossoms, and that bond that you’ve got – mother and baby – it’s all you need in life. I really feel complete.’
Love Island winners Cara Delahoyde and Nathan Massey split up several weeks after discovering that Cara was pregnant.
However, the couple rekindled their romance during the pregnancy, and Nathan was there on 13 December when Cara gave birth to their son, Freddie-George. And it’s no surprise that Cara, who started her relationship with Nathan on TV, has been giving us the whole warts and all description of motherhood.
Days after giving birth, the 27-year-old tweeted: ‘So iv just been welcomed officially in the new mums club with a morning being weed pooped & sicked on. very glam. dodged it for 4 days but today he got me good [sic].’
She’s one of the greatest athletes of all time, Beyonce’s bestie and a feminist icon, and in 2017, Serena Williams added mummy to the list.
Serena welcomed her first baby with now-husband Alexis Ohanian – a baby girl named Alexis Olympia – on 1 September, and the tot is one of the cutest babies we ever did see.
However, Serena recently opened up on her childbirth experience, and revealed that she almost died after complications occurred. The 36-year-old told Vogue: ‘It began with a pulmonary embolism, which is a condition in which one or more arteries in the lungs becomes blocked by a blood clot.
‘This sparked a slew of health complications that I am lucky to have survived. First my C-section wound popped open due to the intense coughing I endured as a result of the embolism. I returned to surgery, where the doctors found a large hematoma, a swelling of clotted blood, in my abdomen.
‘And then I returned to the operating room for a procedure that prevents clots from travelling to my lungs. When I finally made it home to my family, I had to spend the first six weeks of motherhood in bed.’
Model Rosie gave birth to her first child, a baby boy named Jack, back in June 2017.
The 30-year-old announced the news on 28 June on Instagram, writing: ‘Our little man arrived! Jack Oscar Statham – 8.8lbs on Saturday June 24th.’ This was the first child for both Rosie and her fiance Jason Statham.
While Rosie’s pregnancy was relatively private, she gave us a look at her baby bump in a naked throwback shared on International Women’s Day.
It seems like it was the year for secret pregnancies – first Kylie, then Anna Kournikova.
The tennis star’s 16 year relationship with Enrique Iglesias has been notoriously private, and nobody even knew Anna was expecting when it was announced she’d given birth to twins.
The 36-year-old gave birth on 16 December to a boy and girl, believed to be called Nicholas and Lucy. Since then, both parents have shared pictures of the babies – but never together – calling them ‘my sunshine’. Cute.
The latest addition to the mummy club is Robot Wars host Angela Scanlon. The 34-year-old announced she was six months pregnant back in November, writing on social media: ‘SO. I’ve been baking for 6 months now… and I’ve made a bun! 🤰It’s currently in the oven & will be ready by Springtime.
⏰ ‘We are so, SO thrilled (since I’ve taken my head out of the toilet bowl) and can’t wait to welcome a mad, wonderful little human into our world.
🌎 *Really hoping he/she is ginger.’ We’re not sure if she is a ginger, but Angela gave birth to her and husband Roy Horgan’s first child Ruby Ellen Horgan on 25 February.
The Irish star wrote: ‘She is a dreamboat & we are so happy this little woman is ours. Welcome to the world, peach.’
