"The RI 1 car that I owned was once offered by a museum, the name Blackhawk, in the United States. We were given a blank check, we were told to fill out the numbers ourselves, but we didn't want to," said Laurent Setjodiningrat, met by AFP in South Jakarta.
Laurent explained Chrysel Imperial with the maroon color was hunted by the owner of the museum because of its historical value, had been a RI 1 ride.
"The reason they hunt it is because of its history, so Blackhawk is the owner of making museums and that is for used cars of the Head of State. Now he is eyeing the one that has Indonesia. He wants to gather and be put on display only. We just don't want to escape the Chrysler Imperial , "explained Laurent, who also runs Hawke's Auto Gallery.
Chrysler Imperial itself became one of the United States cars that had been Sukarno's operational vehicle. This car is powered by a 6,308 cc engine, 8 cylinders, with a power output of up to 135 hp, which is channeled through a 4-speed manual transmission.
This car still uses the left steering wheel and became one of the most luxurious official Bung Karno cars of his era.
