The impeachment process of Donald Trump, the 45th President of the United States, began on September 24, 2019 by Nancy Pelosi, Chair of the United States House of Representatives, in an official announcement broadcast on television. This process began after President Trump and his personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, forced the Ukrainian government to investigate Hunter Biden, son of former vice president and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden, in order to tackle the Biden election campaign. In July, Trump suspended military aid for Ukraine; he lifted the suspension in September.

The official impeachment effort was pioneered by DPR Members Al Green (D) and Brad Sherman (D) in 2017, the first year of Trump's presidency. In December 2017, the resolution of the impeachment was not passed by the DPR which was controlled by the Republican faction with 58-364 votes.
The Democratic Party gained control of the DPR in the 2018 elections and immediately investigated Trump's decision and financial condition. On January 17, 2019, Trump was accused of having his subscriber attorney, Michael Cohen, lie under oath in investigating Trump's involvement with the Russian government in the Trump Tower project in Moscow. Various parties immediately demanded action and asked the president to "resign or be impeached" if these allegations prove to be true.
Mueller's report, released April 18, 2019, did not answer whether Trump was acting criminally by obstructing the judicial process. Mueller said that Congress was authorized to answer the issue. Congress then supports the start of the impeachment process. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi initially rejected the call for presidential impeachment. In May 2019, he said if Trump continued to take action that would hamper the judicial process and did not respect the summons of Congress, Congress would begin the impeachment process. The Democratic faction and one member of the Republican faction, Justin Amash (Michigan), continue to demand impeachment.

From May to August 2019, President Trump and his personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, pressured the Ukrainian government to investigate Hunter Biden, son of 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden. At the same time, Trump is suspending military aid to Ukraine "for no particular reason" according to Reuters. He then lifted the suspension. Complaints about the disgrace of an employee of the United States Intelligence Community are believed to be related to this situation.
On September 22, Trump admitted he discussed Joe Biden in a telephone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on July 25. On the evening of September 24, Pelosi announced that six DPR commissions would begin the process of impeachment of President Trump. Pelosi accused Trump of violating his oath of office, threatening the national security of the United States, and endangering the integrity of elections. The six commissions assigned to this process are the Financial Services Commission, Justice, Intelligence, Foreign Affairs, Oversight and Reform, and Budget Review.
Joseph Maguire, acting director of the National Intelligence Service who has delayed sending complaints of disgrace to Congress, will deliver testimony before the House of Representatives Intelligence Commission on September 26, 2019.
