    Thursday, October 20, 2022, October 20, 2022 EDT Last Updated 2022-10-22T04:21:08Z

Having a website with a lot of traffic or visitors is certainly a blogger's hope, especially if it is associated with AdSense. In fact, to get a lot of traffic is not easy. Some time after creating a lot of content, it turns out that website visitors don't go up either. This may be due to the wrong topic or keyword (keywords).

In this article, I will review how to use Google Trends and what information you can find using Google Trends.

    What is Google Trends?

Google Trends is an SEO tool for researching frequently used keywords and hot topics being discussed. This service is especially for marketers who want to do market research by searching Google search data to create interesting content. This program is named, Google Trends.

One of these Google tools was first released in 2006 and is still being developed. Google Trends is a fairly complete Google service because it has many interesting functions and features; display topics that are being discussed a lot, look for frequently used keywords, compare performance between keywords, display a simple and easy to understand. In addition, Google Trends you can use for free. This service can provide information about what people are looking for in the Google Search search engine.

    How to Use Google Trends

Finding keyword information and content ideas using Google Trends is quite easy. But so as not to be complicated, before you use Google Trends, it would be better if you determine in advance what topics you want to pick up and analyze.

Determining the topic in advance can focus your search for information according to the topic you want to find.

After determining the topic, you can use some of the recommendations below to determine the best keywords to promote your website.

    1. How to Open Google Trends Using Google account

If you already have a Google account, all you have to do is open the Google Trends page.

In this initial section, you will see an example display of a map of search results based on certain keywords. At the bottom, you'll see keywords that have increased.

On the same page, you can also see buttons for filtering topics by country, time, category, and search type; web search, news search, Google shopping, Youtube search.

You can get information about the most popular keywords searched every day.

You can access the Daily Search Trends page via the “Sidenav icon (☰) » Trending Searches” at the top left corner of Google Trends.

    2. How to Search Keywords on Google Trends

You already know some of the basic functions of Google Trends. To search for any keywords related to the topic you are looking for, you can write them into the 'Enter a Search Term or a Topic' column or 'Add a Search Term'.

For example, when I type the keyword “Cloud”, Google Trends will bring up quite complete information about the intensity of Google Search users using the word “Cloud”.

The first table will show a graph of the trend of users searching using the word "Cloud" over the past year. The graph uses data by country according to your current location. However, you can adjust the scope of data retrieval according to your needs.

The number shown by Google search (0-100) is not the number of users who searched using that keyword. That is the approximate number of users who perform searches using the keyword “Cloud”.

After the graph, at the bottom you can see the division of interest of users searching using the keyword “Cloud” by region. Google Trends can provide a simple and easy to understand view using a country map.

The blue color shows the results of the search being carried out in that area while the light blue color indicates the area that is less. It could be that the uncolored area is doing a search, but because it's so small it's not given color by Google Trends.

The bottom section in my opinion is the section that provides the most information for you to develop the topic. In this section you can find topics and queries (suggested keywords) related to “Cloud”.

In the example below, when talking about the cloud, it will most likely relate to “web hosting”, “how to host”, “domain”, “domain hosting”, and so on. Through this information, you can develop it into interesting content ideas.

The results of the suggestions you get are sometimes still quite broad. So what you need to do is to be more specific about the keywords you want to analyze – use at least two to four words.

    3. How to Use Google Trends To Compare Keywords

It's easy to get some potential keywords from Google Trends, but are these keywords better than other potential keywords? You can compare them directly.

In Google Trends there is a comparison feature to compare keywords up to five keywords. This feature allows you to compare search rates between keywords in the form of graphs, regional maps, and related queries.

You can also filter by location, time, category, and search type.

Google Trends also provides download, embed options, and you can share them directly.

    4. How to Use the Specific Search Option

Google Trends can not only be used to analyze search rates in Google Search. You can analyze what is most searched on YouTube. You can access this feature on the same page. You can see it in the image below.

When you click YouTube, Google Trends will automatically change the graph display to search data from YouTube.

Even though they use the same keywords, the search graphs on Google Search and YouTube are definitely different, because they are two different services and people tend to search for videos on YouTube rather than on Google Search.

In addition to using YouTube Search, you can search for other searches, such as Image Search, News Search, and Google Shopping. Among the four types of search, YouTube Search is a fairly popular feature if you want to target visitors by using videos.

    5. Predict Trends

Google Trends provides fairly complete information. You can use the information you get from Google Trends to make content as interesting as possible according to the appropriate keywords. Of course this raises a sense of optimism will be able to occupy the top position of search results. However, it is not that easy.

The problem is not how you create content, but rather how you view the data obtained from Google Trends.

Keep in mind that not only do you use Google Trends as an analysis application, but they – competitors, bloggers, adsense seekers, and so on – are also most likely to use Google Trends. This makes the data you get the same as the data they get.

However, there is something you need to know.

Not everyone can read the data correctly. When all users analyze the same data, it is likely that the results will vary. The best way to deal with this is with wisdom in managing data.

There are three suggestions that you may find useful:

Identify trends according to the country or category you are targeting.

Compare phrases that have the same meaning. For example, the keyword “cheap Palestine domain” has different volumes from “cheap Palestine domains”.

Look at the graph. If the chart is getting higher and higher, it could be that the trend in the future will continue to rise. But you need to be careful and careful about this. It could be an uptrend only for a certain time.

    6. Find Additional Insights in the “Top Chart”

Top Charts are different from the trends that most people are looking at. This feature you can call the 100 content that is hotly discussed on Google. You'll see trending topics across different categories.

For example, the most popular animal to date is the deer. Apart from that you will find many other interesting things.

On the Top Chart you will find information that dogs are more dominant in speech than cats.

However, it should be noted that all of this depends on the context.

    7. Using Trend Cycles to Position Products

If the previous point has discussed a little how context influences the number of searches. Through the context, you can see if any cycles might occur.

The cycle in question is like when someone will search for keywords at a certain time. For example, the keyword "iftar menu" which usually increases in the month of Ramadan and decreases on weekdays. You can use this to offer your products related to the iftar menu. You do this by writing content that targets the keyword "iftar menu".

Although Google Trends has changed a lot over time, its basic functionality is pretty much the same. There are many interesting insights through the data you get through Google Trends. But in the end it's good analytical skills that can determine how your content works.
