Black Adam is the latest film to be part of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The following is a synopsis of Black Adam, who became Dwayne Johnson's debut as the iconic DCEU antihero.

Five thousand years ago, a slave from Kahndaq named Teth-Adam (Dwayne Johnson) got super powers from the gods of Egypt. He was given that power to free the Kahndaq people from rampant slavery.

However, Teth-Adam was unable to control himself while helping the Kahndaq people to become independent. He was imprisoned by an ancient magician named Shazam because he was deemed unworthy of having these super powers.

At present, it turns out that Kahndaq is not truly independent because it is now colonized by the criminal organization Intergang. Teth-Adam was just a legend whose existence is not known.

Until one day a revolutionary fighter named Adrianna Tomaz (Sarah Shahi) finds traces of Teth-Adam's grave while being hunted by the Intergang herd.

With the knowledge he had, Tomaz then released Teth-Adam from his prison. The figure of a legendary hero in the eyes of the citizens of Kahndaq then rose and killed the Intergang soldiers.

Teth-Adam who came back alive after five thousand years then slaughtered other Intergang soldiers so that the Kahndaq people cheered him on. However, he is reluctant to call himself a hero because he keeps a dark secret in the past.

Teth-Adam's brutality at Kahndaq finally catches the attention of Carter Hall (Aldis Hodge) aka Hawkman. He is the leader of the Justice Society, a superhero organization tasked with maintaining world stability.

They have the principle to keep the peace without killing criminals, because they are considered entitled to be tried. Teth-Adam's sadistic actions also prompted the Justice Society to come to Kahndaq to arrest him.

Hawkman then invited three members of the Justice Society to join. They are Kent Nelson (Pierce Brosnan) aka Doctor Fate, Maxine Hunkel (Quintessa Swindell) aka Cyclone, and Albert Rothstein (Noah Centineo) aka Atom Smasher.

The Justice Society then confronted Teth-Adam and asked him to turn himself in to prevent further brutality. However, he refused because he felt responsible for keeping Kahnaq from Intergang.

They then fought several times in the middle of tough negotiations. Until finally the Justice Society and Teth-Adam agreed to work together when Intergang kidnapped Amon (Bodhi Sabongui), Adrianna's son.

The effort to free Amon unwittingly also poses a far greater threat to Kahndaq and humanity. Because, Intergang has been eyeing the king's crown that can resurrect a demon named Sabbac.

Black Adam is based on a character from DC comics who first appeared in The Marvel Family #1 comic published in December 1945. This character was created by Otto Binder and C. C. Beck.

The film was directed by Jaume Collet-Serra with a script written by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani. Dwayne Johnson also joins as one of the producers, along with Beau Flynn, Hiram Garcia, and Dany Garcia.

Black Adam hits theaters October 19.
