Colds are a disease that is commonly known as a seasonal disease. Symptoms of a cold include itchy nose, runny nose, stuffy nose, and sneezing.
But what actually causes a cold? A cold in itself may not be a disease, but a symptom of some health problem. In Indonesia, there are 3 most common causes of colds in sick people.
The first is an infection with the influenza virus, also known as the flu. The infection can be spread through the air, so if you're around someone who has the flu, there's a good chance you can catch it too if your immune system isn't good.
The second cause is allergies. Allergies are the most common cause of colds. There are many types of allergies, from colds to pet dander to pollen. What do they have in common? All of these allergies can cause inflammation of the nasal cavities leading to itching, runny nose, stuffy nose and sneezing.
Third, Sinusitis or inflammation of the sinus cavities. The sinus cavities filter, humidify and warm the incoming air. If the incoming air contains pollution, dust, or bacteria, it can infect and inflame the sinus cavities, causing excess mucus production.
Well, to treat colds, you must first know the cause. If it is due to an allergy, it can be overcome by staying away from the allergen or allergen. If your cold is caused by a flu virus, you should strengthen your body's immunity by resting and eating adequate nutrition.
If the methods above still don't work, you can take medicine. You can easily buy cold and flu medicines from pharmacies without a doctor's prescription. But remember to choose cold medicines that have a combination of pseudoephedrine as a decongestant (breathing drug) and triprolidine as an antihistamine (anti-allergic drug).
